THE 8-WEEK HEALTHY SKIN DIET-BOOK REVIEW

Michael Hepworth

HOLLYWOOD(Perfect Skin Today)7/13/13/–The title of this book is simple enough and to the point, so when I received a copy to review it was exactly as I had imagined. Nothing fancy, no pictures, just jam packed with useful information much of which is common sense, but still invaluable.

There are plenty of well marked question/answer segments in the book, making this an invaluable reference guide The author is Karen Fischer, a former Australian model, and if her picture has not been heavily touched up, she is a perfect example of what she is touting in the book. The 480 page book is priced at $24.95, and the ISBN number s 978-0-7788-0440-6.

The main thing this book is telling you, is that whatever your skin condition, if you stick to the 8-week diet you will see remarkable improvements. It is an anti-inflammatory eating program originally developed for people with eczema, but then it was found out to help people suffering from such nasty conditions as psoriasis, rosacea, dandruff, acne, cellulite, hives, wrinkles, dull complexion, puffy eyes, pigmentation and dermatitis.

Here is a thumbnail example of what foods to eat for example if you suffer from rosacea, a condition rapidly gaining popularity, if that is the correct word to ise..

Food to Eat-Beef, Skinless Chicken, Lamb, Veal, Lentils, Beans, Apples, Carrots, Cashews, Soy Milk, Apricots, Peaches, Pears, Cherries and most fruits except strawberries, bananas, pineapple.  Foods to Avoid- Chocolate, Cheese, Wine, Spicy Foods, Beer, Canned Foods, Colored Fish, Oranges.

One food that comes up time and time again as good for you is something I could easily eat very day if the budget allowed for it in these perilous times-yes I mean oysters. Also very good for you is Chicken Broth, Salmon, Trout, Sardines, Garlic, Red Onion, Leafy Green Vegetables, Spinach, Carrots and the Whites of Eggs. Luckily she points out that even bad foods can be eaten with some degree of moderation.

Getting back to the book there are sections relating to directly to babies, PMS Syndrome, Weight issues, yeast and fungal infections and hypoglycemia. There are also lots of useful recipes at the back making this book one that we endorse enthusiastically.
