How to Identify a Good Medical Spa

South Pasadena, CA(PerfectSkinToday)4/4/12/–I have done my fair shares of spa visits. From destination spas, health spas, resort spas, urban hotel spas, day spas, medical spas, hot springs spas, detox spas, inns spas. Obviously enough spas trips to willing admit that I enjoy to be pampered where I can totally indulge myself into blissful escape.

As a spa advocate, I can contest there are many myths about spas. One of the biggest misconceptions is that all spas offer similar treatments. Even though some spas do offer the same standard facials and microdermabrasions; not all spas are created equal. That is why it is so important to know the difference on types of spas that are out there. Another common misconception is that if you are in the age range between the mid 20s to mid 30s, then you are too young to be receiving medical spas treatments. And of course my favorite (because it is more applicable towards me personally) if you are Asian, then the biggest spa myth is that Asians should not even consider the option of getting any laser skin treatment such as laser genesis or photofacials because of their sensitive skin pigmentations.

So let’s clarify a few things. What is a medical spa? For one, a medical spa must be run by a Professional Certified Licensed Medical Physician. Although some med spas run themselves with a Registered Nurse (RN), you should be cautious and consider the option of meeting with an actual physician to consult you about the type of treatments that are recommended for your skin. Also, understand that not all skin types are created equal. For example, you would not want to take your car in for an annual checkup at Smog Check facility, right?! So why would you go to a nurse for your skin?

In my opinion, there are very few medical spas that abide with the medical demands for skin rejuvenation treatments. When shopping for a medical spa, I strongly suggest you to do your research by reading up on all of the medical reviews about the place you are considering of getting treatments. Also, it is important to call and speak with one of the Medial Spa staff to answer any questions you may have. Not only are all skin types are created equal, the same rules apply with medical spas.

One of the places that I like and recommend in Los Angeles is ReJuvaYou Medical Spa up in South Pasadena, CA. It is a non-surgical spa facility that provides result-oriented treatments such as injectables to manage wrinkles, laser treatments and photofacial RF to treat brown spots and spider veins, and tightening and freezing technologies to delay the knife. Phew!

What impressed me about RejuvaYou was their consistent medical professionalism throughout the whole facility.  All the staffs were very friendly, well trained, and knowledgeable about their product and service. I am always bit weary if the staff cannot tell me what they do or specialize in. But at ReJuvaYou, I was totally impressed how well trained and professional the staffs are with their services.

So what treatments do I recommend? Well, since I am not a board certified physician, I can only tell you the treatment that I have done and fallen in love with. In your complimentary consultation at RejuvaYou Medical Spa, one of the staff members will take pictures of your entire face. From side profile to full front face, this full facial photography is necessary for medical records to track for results from beginning to end as well to analysis and examine for future treatments. You will be examined by Dr. John Shieh, where he will examine your entire face and explain which treatment he recommends, depending on the type of results you are looking for. As for me, Dr. Shieh recommended the ReJuvaYou Chemical Peel and their signature Triniti Skin Series (also seen with Keeping Up with the Kardashians).

The Triniti Skin Rejuvenation treatment is suitable for anyone that is seeking relief from blemishes, laxity, and wrinkles. It’s basically a non-surgical face lift. And yes, you should do it in your late 20s to prevent any future skin damage and keep your skin looking youthful. What you should be aware of is that there are other IPL or generic photofacial treatments that actually are 5 -7 treatments, and on those, it can take 2 or 3 treatments before seeing a benefit or change. But for the Triniti – Fotofacial RF because with the addition of the RF, it will help attain results visible from the very first treatment, which takes up to 3 visit of the Fotofacial RF in order to see results and progressively improves with each treatment. I instantly saw the result in my first initial treatment. I was amazed and thrilled that the Triniti Skin Series was able to remove most of unwanted sun spots!

During my time on CBS’s Survivor One World in Samoa, my skin accumulated major skin damage such as unwanted freckles, moles, and sun spots. The sun exposure in Samoa was so harsh and intense; I had nothing to really protect my skin. It’s Survivor! Coming back to Los Angeles to find a medical spa that knew how to treat my skin was difficult because there were limited. But fortunately, I finally a found RejuvaYou Medical Spa that not only knows how to treat Asian skins but all types of pigmentations from dark brown, olive, yellow, rose, and beige tones.  RejuvaYou  is in my opinion, the best medical spa in Los Angeles County.
