Hollywood, CA(Perfect Skin Today)9/3/12/—A familiar tag line indeed, but M.Steves Skin Care is new to the market, and could very well have some staying power for the following reasons. First of all the packaging is very appealing, and the founder Mally Steves Chakola looks pretty good herself, especially for a corporate lawyer. No, she is not a doctor, dermatologist or chemist, but she assured me last week at the West Hollywood launch that she has a top notch team behind the brand.
The collection consists of five products, Power Packed Purifying Cleanser ($34), Ultra Nourishing Boost ($64), Multi Benefit Moisturizer ($46), Anti Aging Serum ($68) and the Power Packed Reviving Exfoliator ($48). As with most of these products there is always a special or secret ingredient, and in M.Steves case it is the Rose Hip Seed Oil (RHSO).
Derived from the seeds of rose bushes native to the Andes mountains of South America, RHSO is rich in compounds such as unsaturated fatty acids, linolenic, linoleic and oleic Acids. Testing has shown that RHSO can help not only with normal skin, but also with that affected by scars, burns, psoriasis and eczema.
These ingredients are able to penetrate the top layers of the skin, nourishing the cells and creating a moisture barrier. The RHSO itself has a dry oil feel to it, absorbing quick without greasiness. The RHSO itself is extracted by using the “cold pressed” method exclusively, making the oil far more potent.
RHSO consists of 96% of essential fatty acids, as opposed to argan or grapeseed oil which in general consists of 80% and 88% respectively. There are also no parabens, sulfates, petro chemicals, synthetic dyes or triclosan in any of the five products, and all except the exfoliator have been dermatologist tested.
Some of the other ingredients used in the products are as follows: Aloe Vera and fruit extracts enhance the cleanser; Gatuline ( anti-wrinkle extract) is used in the Ultra Nourishing Boost; Aloe Vera and Hyaluronic Acid are added in the Multi-Benefit Moisturizer; Argireline, Actifirm Ultra, Evermat and Hyaluronic acid enhance the Serum and the exfoliator adds Corundum Crystals, Fruit Enzymes, Glycolic Acid and Deep Sea Mud to the mix.
