With a price range of between $65 and $135 for the line, the price point is competitive enough to give competitors a serious run for their money.
It took seven years of intense research to discover the compound responsible for this breakthrough, and the consumers are the ones who benefit from this research.
Alguronic Acid (AA) enables microalgae cells to regenerate and protect themselves in harsh environments and conditions. In vitro tests, Alguronic Acid increased elastin production for up to 32% and cellular regeneration by up to 55%. In another scientific fact, AA is not affected by the same act of degradation that affects HyaluronicAcid, a common ingredient in many anti-aging skin care lines.
It does this by inhibiting hyaluronidase, the enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid at a success rate of 96%. Studies have also found that AA provides UV cell damage protection and decreases inflammation caused by sun damage by 54%.Alguronic Acid also helps with Melanin, a dark skin pigment that is responsible for the development of age spots. Tests found that when applied to model skin tissues, A decreased development of hyperpigmentation by 26%.
There are four products in the initial launch: Algenist Reconstructing Serum ($95), Algenist Anti-Ageing Moisturizer ($90), Anti-Ageing Moisturizer w/SPF 20 ($90)), and the Algenist Eye Renewal Balm (($65).
Other ingredients used in the products are Vitamin C which is used to boost skin radiance and reduce wrinkles and Apple cell extract which delays signs of aging and to stimulate cell regeneration and repair. Finally Bamboo extract is used to increase skin firmness and to improve the smoothness of the skin.
The Anti-Aging Moisturizer is the star performer amongst this bunch, and immediately after use, makes the skin feel smooth and supple. You only need it twice a day, and is likely more effective when used immediately after the serum.
The two new products from Algenist are the Firming & Lifting Crème and Firming Eye Gel.
